Krista:

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend and mentor, Marilyn Lowe, the author of the Music Moves for Piano method.

Hannah:

Everyone in our community and many beyond our community has a Marylin story. We remember where we were when we met her. We remember certain words she spoke to us over the years. And many of us remember times she made us rethink everything we thought we knew about teaching piano.

Krista:

She was our leader, our teacher, our mentor, our guide and our friend. She was and will be the pillar of the audiation-based piano teaching community, a community she built one workshop, one PDLC, one teacher at a time.

Hannah:

There is no one quite like Marylin White Lowe. I think many of us are having difficulties in fully accepting her passing because we weren't ready to let her go. Marylin had the wisdom, the experience, the honesty, and the compassion we all needed and we all want a piece of.

Krista:

Marylin gave us what we need to carry on and she believed in us. She knew we would continue to encourage each other in our pursuit to create intelligent music makers who have the tools to express the music inside of them.

Hannah:

And as we continue to build this audition-based piano teaching community, and as we continue to utilize the Music Moves for Piano method in our lessons, we will continue to ask what would Marilyn do?

Krista:

We encourage you to visit Maryland low.com, where her family has gotten a beautiful tribute. They will also be posting more information about a virtual memorial service, which we are sure will be attended by teachers all over the world.

Hannah:

In honor of Marylin, let's continue to share with our students the joys of singing, chanting, moving, performing, improvising, and most importantly, audiating, just as she did with us.
